Cúrate Makes Wine Enthusiast America’s 100 Best Wine Restaurants 2018

America’s 100 Best Wine Restaurants according to Wine Enthusiast. It has taken a few days for that recognition to set in over here!

Felix Meana monitors the wine inventory in the Cúrate Wine Cellar. Cúrate named one of America’s 100 Best Wine Restaurants 2018.

In 2010, the concept of opening a Spanish tapas restaurant in Asheville, North Carolina began to materialize. One of the primary goals for Cúrate was to offer a truly authentic Spanish experience. For the ownership team, it seemed natural to offer a wine menu that was compatible with this concept. A very selective list of about 100 Spanish-only wines was created.

Although it only features wines from Spain, the wine list at Cúrate is surprisingly dynamic. It is constantly evolving due to availability, introduction of new wines and changes between vintage. The wines that sourced are sometimes produced by smaller wineries with limited availability, and that is exactly what makes them special! The management team at Cúrate, along with co-owner, Félix Meana, are constantly bringing new and exciting wines through the menu, and traveling to Spain often to visit the wineries where they are produced.

In 2017, Cúrate expanded to pull in another well-loved element of the Spanish experience – the vermutería. The addition of a charcuterie counter and vermouth bar allowed for more robust vermouth, cider and sherry offerings – sometimes hard to find on menus in the states. Félix told Wine Enthusiast, “There is a resurgence of knowledge about vermouth, and more and more people are trying their hand at producing their own unique versions.
