The 2016 Taste Talks Food & Drink Awards, “a celebration of what’s inspiring the new generation of eaters, drinkers, and innovators,” has announced the nominees for their first celebration. Thousands of people voted for 25 categories, and the results are in!
Katie Button is a nominee for Best New Chef: South along with
- Alon Shaya – Shaya – New Orleans, LA
- Ashley Christensen – Ashley Christensen Restaurants – North Carolina
- Kwame Onwuachi – The Shaw Bijou – Washington D.C.
- Ryan Poli – The Catbird Seat – Nashville, TN
To be named among these great chefs and peers is an honor, and we are so proud of her achievements at Cúrate and Nightbell in Asheville.
In addition to Katie’s nomination, we’d like to congratulate Evan Sung for his nod as Best Photographer. Evan has taken the majority of Heirloom Hospitality Group’s official photos and food shots for years. He also lent his talent to Katie’s upcoming cookbook, taking all the incredible images of her Spanish cuisine. Evan’s photos grace many websites and cookbooks, and we are happy to see him getting well-deserved recognition.
Congratulations are also due to Husk chef Sean Brock, who is a Taste Talks nominee for Outstanding Chef. Our friends at Sea2Table, a sustainable fish provider, are up for Best Environmental, Agricultural, or Sustainable Innovation. Southern Foodways Alliance is a nominee for Best Academic Institution or Organization.
Kudos to all the nominees- we’re excited to see the results at the Taste Talks awards in September!
